Another stalwart of Caerleon excavations today, as we welcome back (after several years away doing excellent things with the YAC) Rebecca. We'll forgive the Indy IV reference!
Hello, my name is Rebecca and I am part of a great team who run the South East Wales Young Archaeologists' Club. The club has been running since 1995 and aims to teach children about archaeology and heritage. I feel strongly about making archaeology accessible to all and feel it is vital if we are to protect it in the future. For the last 12 years I have been working with various local organisations to ensure this remains possible.
My main research interests include: Hillfort sites, Roman and Medieval archaeology and the heritage and culture of Wales. My love of travel has taken some interests worldwide with my study of Berber culture in Morocco and the tribal cultures of the middle east. My last excavation with the university was at Trellech some years ago now so I will enjoy digging with the university once again and hope we glean more information about the local archaeology. I am also looking forward to meeting a good team of archaeologists' and as Indiana put it 'If you want to be a good archaeologist, you've got to get out of the library' so let's get cracking!
